Getting Dumped: Lanvin x H&M

The meaning of this title is twofold: firstly, that I am simply dumping this image orgy of Lanvin X H&M images on you because words cannot do justice; secondly, that if you just got dumped, having the ex see you all fabbed out in some crazy hot Lanvin x H&M is sort of the perfect revenge... or at the very least will allow you to feel good about yourself, if your ex is not some fashion-obsessed person. In which case, you're better off without him or her, no?

Anyway... on to the full set of lookbook pics.

H&M x Lanvin: Coming Up Roses

A couple of days ago, I tweeted a link to the first look at Lanvin and H&M's highly anticipated collection. Truth be told, I have never been inspired to line up for any of the H&M collabs. Long lines scare me. Scary fashion diehards scare me. And spending endless hours in a line, only to find out nothing fits me or looks good on me, scares me the most, because I know my own psyche and I know I'll feel obligated to buy something just because I spent so much time in line. Opportunity cost, children.

Anyway, that could change with this epic Lanvin collection. The first look had me excited -- all the signature pouf and circumstance have been retained, and those two cocktail dresses on either end are better than anything I've ever seen from the high-street brand, designer collab or not. One new image was released today and yippee! There are prints! Everything is coming up roses. Now be good little blog readers, stay at home when the collection is launched, let mama have her Lanvin please. The full collection preview is meant to be out November 2.

I Choo-Choo-Choose You

If the header hasn't given it away and you haven't read the barrage of fashion press announcing this, guess who's going to be the next big-name collaborator signed on by H&M? And you thought Matthew Williamson was getting you all hot and bothered. For the first time in its high-street history, H&M is partnering with an accessories designer: Jimmy Choo. (The company, not the man himself).

There is actually a distinction between the two, by the way. Jimmy Choo the designer was run out of his own label in a Roland Mouret/Herve Leger (Leroux?) kind of way, and runs a couture shoe line called Jimmy Choo Couture. The brand, Jimmy Choo, is run by designer Tamara Mellon, I believe in conjunction with a former Mr Choo cohort with family relations to the man. Anyway, let's put old scandals in the past and concentrate on new developments -- like those amazing zebra-print heels. And that black strappy sandal. Whooo, I'm sweating! ShoeGeek geek-out alert.

In addition to bags and shoes, Jimmy Choo is going to branch out with a capsule collection of ready-to-wear looks that I'm going to be very curious about, given Tamara Mellon's own personal style is a litte bit one note. Girlfriend is all about the Grecian one-shouldered Halston gowns! They're gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but not necessarily what Choo fans are looking for. The blue dress above is meant to be one of the looks, and while it's a perfect easy silhouette (a la Tamara...), it's not what the ladies are going to be lining up for. Hands off those zebra heels, girls. They're MINE. ALL MINE.

The collection launches November in the US.

Friday Linkfest returns!

Have been kind of delinquent with the linkfests... chalk it down to laziness on Friday afternoons... anyway, without further ado:

Margiela launches homewares that look, well, homemade.

Our Twitter buddy Bejewelled Bespoke is having her first sale! Put one finger on the horsey pocket watch and I'll kill you though.

Over 200 MW for H&M listings up on eBay already... profitmongers are quick!

Project Runway is coming! But Leanne Marshall's Bluefly line is not... yet

LV's Peter Copping steps into Olivier Theyskens shoes at Nina Ricci. Don't fall, Peter, his shoes are 12 inches high...

Fresh prints

There are certain high-low collabs that folks get real excited about (Kate Moss for Topshop, Christian Siriano for Payless), others that just kind of blahhh into nothingness (I dunno, Thakoon for Target, Pat Field for Payless, that ilk of thing) but it seems like the Matthew Williamson collection for H&M is actually going to be something to look out for, probably because his forte is prints and colour, which translate well into low-end production. (McQueen is all about the rigorous tailoring and silhouette, which is probably why it fell into the doldrums of boringdom when rendered in Target's mass fashion philosophy with a full range of sizing and limited fabric technology.)

Anyway, so it's good that y'all will have a chance to get at the Matthew Williamson collection, since H&M's newest boutique will be opening up this Friday evening at 7pm, with VIP shoppers entitled to a 20% discount and first dibs on the new arrivals (plus local celeb sightings, if you're into that kinda thing). IF i were to go (big if, since a) I'm too lazy to move my ass the three MTR stops it takes to cross the harbour to Kowloon and b) I may have another work event that evening), I'd get my paws all over that amazing maxi dress and the accompanying leather jacket. Then I'd use my savings to hire a full time "fanboy" in the literal sense of the word. A guy, holding a fan, creating a perma-Marilyn-Monroe-in-Seven-Year-Itch effect. The other stuff is pretty dandy too, just not for me -- I don't find prints charming. (Get it? Juvenile snigger over bad pun).

PS Anyone else find Matthew Williamson kinda hot? Even though his collections for Pucci were sooo lackluster compared to the new god of reinvention Peter Dundas? I think it's the whole pirate moustache thing. Love a moustache that looks like it can be twirled.

The TST Flagship will be at 30 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
