Lucky in Love
I'm still reeling from the fact that it's already 2010 and yet the marketing departments of brands are already heavily selling Chinese New Year which falls on Valentine's Day this year. The most common angle for pitching is that it's the day for love and I think the most interesting gimmick I've seen is Carat's love charms. Offering five different types of charms, the heart, fairy, wishbone (which look more like pliers I think), one and dollar signs, Carat suggests that you can pair up different charms for different wishes. So what does each combination mean?
Fairy + heart = dream love
Wishbone + heart = wishing for love
One + heart = one love
$ + heart = love for sale
Of course, the last one seems a bit forced to me while the wishbone charm must have been designed after the concept was developed (why else would you have a diamond wishbone?) Check them out at Carat stores.
